Various groups meet fortnightly to explore and study the scriptures, convinced that they contain our surest resource for spiritual sustenance. The emphasis in the group meetings is to learn through dialogue and sharing our understanding of the scriptures. However, speaking is not obligatory. It is perfectly acceptable to attend and simply listen.
Groups vary in size but average about ten people. They meet once a fortnight and follow a specific theme over a series of four meetings. Throughout the year there are three series: the autumn series is in October to December, the winter series in January to March and the spring series in April to June. Each series follows a different theme. Material is generally made available to the group members prior to the meetings to enable them to be prepared for the discussion.
Groups meet in the evening or in the morning in various homes in the Cathcart area, and participants select a group according to either the suitability of the meeting time or the location.
While learning is the main aim of the groups another of the great benefits is fellowship. Many incomers to the church have sought out and found fellowship, support and friendship through meeting in one of the groups.
