Kirk Session News: January 08
Special Offerings
From time to time the Kirk Session is approached and asked to sanction ‘Special Offerings’ for worthwhile causes. At other times emergency situations arise which require our help immediately.
The elders are aware that sometimes it can feel that we are being asked to give more and more frequently, although it is always made clear that each individual should give only when they feel that it’s appropriate to him/her. In light of this, the Kirk Session has agreed to implement the following policy concerning ‘Special Offerings’:
- We will approve up to 4 ‘Special Offerings’ per calendar year. This will not include any emergency situation which may arise and require our financial aid. Neither will it include any direct support being provided to certain agencies.
- Gift Aid envelopes will be made available where appropriate.
- Requests will be considered by the sub-group whose members are Alex Harris, May Laughlan, Linda Burke, Ian Miller and Maria Campbell who will bring the requests and recommendations to Session.
